Jessica Williams – founder of Sidekicks and mental health charity Work to Recover – has released a new book, ‘How To Get A Job’.
Williams’ debut brings together her combined 15 years experience as a job hunter, employer, career coach and recruitment firm owner. The book was written in response to Williams’ disappointment at the standard of practical advice available to job hunters in the UK market.
“Not everyone has access to a good recruiter, or big network of contacts,” says Williams. “I had been looking for a long time for a book that was simply written and contained practical advice on job hunting which I could recommend to those I work with.
“The trouble is that there are lots of books about job hunting out there, but very few are written by people who have recent relevant experience either as a recruiter, employer or job seeker, meaning that the advice given is often theoretical rather than practical.”
Prior to founding Sidekicks, Jessica Williams’ successful career as a PA spanned just over a decade. During that time, Williams supported prominent employers within various industries, including investment banks, hedge funds, commercial and residential property and high profile individuals throughout the UK and Asia.
In 2015, Williams launched Sidekicks, a London-based recruitment agency dedicated to the high-quality, ethical recruitment of administrative support talent – and now splits her time between Sidekicks and the charity Work to Recover, also founded by Jessica, which aims to help anyone who has suffered with mental ill-health back into sustainable employment.
The book is available through Amazon priced at £2.99, and will be made available free of charge to Sidekicks candidates, Work to Recover charity programme participants and partnering charitable and not-for-profit organisations.
